Hematite is the most important ore of iron. Although it was once mined at thousands of locations around the world, today almost all of the production comes from a few dozen large deposits where significant equipment investments allow companies to efficiently mine and process the ore. Most ore is now produced in China, Australia, Brazil, India, Russia, Ukraine, South Africa, Canada, Venezuela, and the United States.

The mineral is used to produce pigments, preparations for heavy media separation, radiation shielding, ballast, and many other products.

Tumbled stones are pieces of rock and different minerals that have been tumbled to produce smooth rounded and highly polished stones. The process begins by placing rough stones of a similar size into a rock tumbler. The barrel is then filled with water, sand, coarse grit and various polishing agents to create a smooth surface on the polished gemstone.

These stones are sold individually and in 2.5LB bags with stone size options of Medium which measure approximately 1/2" and Large which measures approximately 1".
